22 Fridays To Go – Starrs Aboard Weekly Recap
Calendar showing only 22 more fridays left till Laura's retirement.

Hi everyone!

Well, it’s been a little while since I’ve checked in! We’ve been busy around here, and I’ve also been working on a little project of my own. Because apparently, I don’t have enough to do already! 😂

Meanwhile, Ed and I have continued chipping away at the house, sorting through closets and cupboards, and dividing and conquering one section at a time. We’re also trying to eat our way through the freezers before we leave. Let’s just say we may be having some interesting meals over the next few months!

We’ve been figuring out what stays, what goes, and what needs to find a place in the motorhome. We’ve even been working on keeping the mice OUT of the camper. Because apparently, we’re not the only ones who think it’s going to be a cozy place to live!

In between all the sorting, we’ve managed to enjoy a little life, too. We went out for Chinese food, even though we’d been trying to cut back on eating out. And wouldn’t you know it, those fortune cookies had something to say about our future!

Ed’s fortune mentioned someone special entering his life in December. Mine told me to trust the process and promised great rewards in April. Considering April 2 is my planned last day of work, I thought that was pretty interesting timing! I’m choosing to take it as a little encouragement. As for Ed’s fortune, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

We’ve also taken time to look up and appreciate the beauty around us. It’s a good reminder that we’re still living our lives while preparing for the next chapter.

Of course, not every day is sunshine and fortune cookies. There are moments when the anxiety creeps in and I wonder if this is really going to work. Will we have everything ready? Are we making the right decisions? And, of course, will we have enough money to do all the things we want to do?

We’re trying to be mindful of our spending, which brings me to the subject of pennies. Let’s just say we’ve been rounding up our loose change, and Ed and I even managed to turn a simple trip to cash in coins into an adventure of its own. When you’re planning a new life on the road, apparently, every penny really does count!

We’ve also started reconsidering whether a storage unit might not be such a terrible idea after all. I know the whole point is to simplify our lives, but there are some things we’re just not ready to part with. And while we’re trying to save every penny, we’re also learning that peace of mind has value, too. Maybe a little breathing room isn’t the worst thing in the world.

We’re figuring it out as we go, and I suppose that’s part of the adventure.

And speaking of the adventure, we just crossed another Friday off the calendar!

TWENTY-TWO FRIDAYS LEFT!

The house isn’t empty, the cupboards aren’t finished, and there are still plenty of decisions to make. But we’re moving forward, one step at a time. Some days it’s exciting, some days it’s overwhelming, and some days we find ourselves doing things we never imagined we’d be doing.

If you’ve missed our adventures over the past few weeks, I’ve linked all eight recents posts above and listed them below. Grab a cup of coffee and catch up when you have a few minutes. ❤️

Until next time,

Laura & Ed
